Asus’ Eco-Friendly Bamboo Laptop is Officially Official
After many sightings and lots of buzz, Asus has officially announced its eco-friendly solution to mobile computing – the new Asus Bamboo-Series laptops, a bamboo-clad computer that’s on the Green scene from conception, through production, function, and to its eventual recycling after disposal. The Bamboo-Series laptops include a 12.1-inch model weighing in at 3.4 lbs., and an 11.1-inch model weighing 2.7 lbs. The laptops feature a stylish and organic-looking artisan-grade Moso bamboo paneling. “The organic tactility, refreshing scent and minimalist aesthetics of bamboo lend the Asus Bamboo-Series notebook an arresting aura of spirituality, warmth and old-world charm that synthetic materials and cold, impersonal metals will struggle to replicate,” says Asus. Behind the aesthetics, the Bamboo-Series laptops boast some great specs. The 12.1-inch model offers the choice of Intel’s T9400/P8600/P8400 Core 2 Duo processors, and comes with 256MB nVidia GeForce 9300M GS graphics, up to 4GB SDRAM, a 320GB hybrid HDD with 256MB of Flash. The 11.1-inch model boasts an Intel Core Duo Processor U7600, embedded Intel GMA X3100 graphics, up to 4GB SDRAM, 1.8-inch 9.5mm PATA 80/100/120GB and 32GB SDD. Both laptops come with 2n integrated webcam, and 8-in-1 card reader, a Super-Multi Double Layer DVD, and Asus' Super Hybrid Engine power-saving technology which claims can boost battery life by 35 to 75 per cent.
