Penryn-based Laptops by Toshiba, Lenovo and HP Compaq
The recent release of some new Penryn-based laptops isn’t quite finished – Toshiba, Lenovo and HP Compaq are joining the likes of laptop giants Acer, Fujitsu and Sony on the Penryn-equipped bandwagon.
First up from Toshiba is the ultra-portable Toshiba Satellite U300 laptop, which runs on the Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 processor at 2.1 GHz, 3MB L2 cache and 800 MHz FSB. The U300 laptop boasts a 13.3-inch WXGA TruBrite display with a resolution of 1,200 by 800, and comes with 250 GB SATA, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 video card and a DVD Super Multi DL.
Next from Toshiba is the 17-inch Satellite X200 laptop. Built for gaming, X200 laptop is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8100 at 2.1 GHz, 3MB L2 cache and 800 MHz FSB. The X200 laptop features 3072 MB DDR2 667MHz; 320 GB SATA; and is outfitted with SLI NVIDIA GeForce 2 x 8600M GT, 512MB dedicated video card; and a combo DVD-RW/HD-DVD Super Multi optical drive. The 17-inch TruBrite TFT LCD display boasts 1,680 by 1,050 resolution. Toshiba.
The first Lenovo Penryn-based laptops are the Lenovo ThinkPad T61 laptop and the Lenovo ThinkPad R61 laptop. The ThinkPad T61 and R61 laptops will feature the CPU Penryn Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1GHz, and depending on the model you choose, a 14.1-inch or 15.4-inch WXGA or WXGA+ display with built-in Intel Graphics GMA X3100 or NVIDIA dedicated graphics card. The ThinkPad T61 and R61 laptops come with 32- or 64-bit Windows Vista or optional Windows XP Professional. Lenovo.
Three’s company with the new Penryn-based HP Compaq 6820 laptop, HP Compaq 6720 laptop and the HP Compaq 6520 laptop. Ranging between 14 and 17 inches, the 6820, 6720 and 6520 laptops feature the 45nm processor with Penryn architecture, Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 at 2.1GHz, 2.4GHz and T8300 to T9300 at 2.5 GHz with 800MHz FSB and 3MB to 6MB of L2 cache. Some specs include the DDR2 667 MHz memory, up to 250 GB HDD, and 802.11a/b/go draft-n wireless connectivity. HP Compaq.
